The Spirit of Football

After South Africa were out of the SWC-soccer world cup it was Ghana that got the full support from the South Africans and Africa as a whole as the only African nation left in the SWC.

Sadly for Ghana, they had to play against a team that justifies breaking the rules to win a match and after even be happy about it.

I honestly felt sick of despair after Mr.Suarez deliberately blocked the ball with his hands as soon as he realized that this is going to be a sure goal. Please note what I'm saying here, sure goal.

Ok, so he did get a red card. Ok, so Ghana got penalty and a chance, please note what I'm saying now, a chance to claim their goal back, which of course they missed. Ghana was forced to take a shot at the goal that they already scored but was so cruelly denied!

Ghana was the better team from the start of the game until the end. One man, the world's biggest coward in my opinion broke the rules so that his team and country could win. Cheating your way to a win is nothing to be proud of.

Because of cowardly action the hopes of Ghana and the African continent was crushed because one man was allowed to be a coward who used his arms to block a ball. Something that you are not allowed to do but he did it anyway!

If the ball touches your arm by mistake it is one thing but to decide when you can use your arms and suffer a little red card and have a chance for you opponent to miss his penalty is something that cannot be in the spirit of football.

Did you see how suarez celebrated when the Ghana striker missed the shot? It was disgusting to witness. Maybe he did what he felt he had to do but in my book and the rest of the world hopefully he is still a coward.

Also how can a real sportsman pretend to be tripped by an attacking player, get awarded a penalty because of it, shoots the penalty, scores and on top of it all be happy about it. That is like cheating and winning. How can that win mean anything to you?

If you did not play absolutely fair how can you be happy about winning? What exactly are you playing for? I personally do not want to see my fellow countrymen play unfairly to win. I would rather see them loose but know that they played a fair and hard game and did the best they could. That is what the spirit of any game is all about. That is what the spirit of competition is all about. That is what the spirit of football or soccer is all about!

No suarez, you have not scored any goals in my book. If you don't publicly apologize for your cowardly action and say that you did it in the heat of the moment, you have not scored any goals with me.

Get the spirit back man!
